RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - All minor league baseball stadiums at the AAA and AA level this coming season will be outfitted with a pitch clock this season, it was announced Thursday.
The Diamond, home to the Richmond Flying Squirrels, will have their clock installed sometime in the coming months.
Details are still being hammered out by Major League Baseball but it is believed that pitchers will now have twenty seconds to pitch the ball after receiving it. It the ball isn't thrown before the clock runs out an automatic ball will be issued.
The pitch clock was fired tried during this year's Arizona Fall League.
A pitch clock has major hurdles to go through before it is adopted into the Major Leagues.
