RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The road has not been kind to the Richmond Spiders this season. Chris Mooney's squad is still seeking its first true road victory of the campaign, and tomorrow the Spiders head into a hostile environment at George Washington on Thursday.
The Colonials are 12-4 on the season, 2-1 in the Atlantic 10, and coming off an upset loss at La Salle. GW, however, is 20-1 since the start of last season on its own floor, including a 6-0 mark this year.
Richmond is 9-7 on the year, also 2-1 in the conference, and has won two straight, most recently a 60-41 triumph over St. Bonaventure. The Spiders have taken six of the last ten meetings with the Colonials, but fell last year at the Robins Center, 73-65.
Defense is expected to be on display on Thursday night. Richmond is second in the Atlantic 10 in scoring defense, giving up just 58.9 points per game. The Colonials rank right behind the Spiders in third, allowing 59.1.
Tip off is set for 7:00pm on Thursday night.
