RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Former Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell has been denied a motion for his release pending appeal. He must now report to prison on February 9.
"Mr. McDonnell assuredly did more than provide mere access to Williams - he performed 'official acts' as that term is defined under federal bribery laws," said Judge Spencer in the memorandum order.
McDonnell still has the opportunity to appeal this decision to the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals, but there has been no word yet from his legal team that they will do so.
