UVA wins 19th straight home game, stays perfect

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (WWBT) - Justin Anderson scored 16 points to lead four Cavaliers in double figures, as third-ranked Virginia downed NC State, 61-51, at John Paul Jones Arena on Wednesday night.

The victory is UVA's 19th straight on its home floor, the eighth longest streak in the nation. Tony Bennett's team improves to 14-0, 2-0 in the ACC.

The Wolfpack proved to be worthy adversaries in this contest. It was close the entire first half, with the Cavaliers leading by one at halftime. With 8:58 to play in the game, Trevor Lacey hit a three pointer to put NC State in front, 42-41, but that's when Virginia would take control, scoring the next ten points, creating the necessary separation, and pulling away.

Virginia held the Wolfpack scoreless for a 6:21 span in the first half and a 6:18 span in the second half. It marks the Wahoos' seventh straight win against NC State.

Virginia returns to action on Saturday when the Cavaliers travel to Notre Dame.
