RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Virginia State and Virginia Union have been having different seasons on the men's basketball court, but Monday night, both the Trojans and Panthers had similar unsatisfactory results.
Virginia State fell into a nine point halftime deficit, and was unable to climb out, falling to Shaw, 72-61. Elijah Moore led the Trojans with 16 points in the losing effort. VSU had won seven of its last eight games entering the contest, and falls to 8-4, 1-1 in CIAA play. The Trojans will visit Winston-Salem State on Thursday.
Virginia Union was also sent to a loss, the sixth straight defeat for the Panthers, as they fell to Johnson C. Smith, 72-68. D'Andre Bullard scored 13 points for VUU in the loss. The Panthers are now 4-9, 0-3 in CIAA play, and travel to Shaw on Thursday.
