SPOTSYLVANIA, VA (WWBT) - A former Spotsylvania youth volunteer has been charged in connection to an anonymous tip about alleged sexual abuse of minors.
The Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office said detectives arrested Gregory Richard Yeamans on New Year's Eve for two counts of aggravated sexual battery of a minor and one count of taking indecent liberties with a minor.
Authorities said the Spotsylvania Department of Social Services received an anonymous tip on December 30, 2014, alleging sexual abuse of minors by a local youth minister. The Sheriff's Office Child Victim Unit investigated, and detectives interviewed two known victims. Their investigation turned up evidence linking Yeamans, 52, to the alleged crimes.
Authorities said the offenses reportedly occurred at Yeamans' home in Spotsylvania. The victims, boys aged 11 and 12 both confirmed for authorities that Yeamans was their youth minister at Fairview at Riverclub Church in Spotsylvania.
Yeamans is being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
Detectives are continuing their investigation to see if there are any more individuals that may have had inappropriate contact with Yeamans.
