RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - VCU re-entered the national rankings this week, coming in at number 20 in the AP Poll, 21 in the Coaches Poll, and a six game winning streak has propelled the Rams back into the spotlight. Fresh off a conference opening win Sunday at Fordham, Shaka Smart and his club return to the Siegel Center to face Atlantic 10 newcomer Davidson on Wednesday.
Smart calls the Wildcats "versatile and well-rounded." They're 10-2 on the season and rank fourth in the NCAA in scoring, posting 85.8 points per game. Davidson is coming off an 81-67 victory over Richmond in its conference opener this past Saturday.
The Rams are 11-3 and have not trailed in their last five games. They topped Fordham, 75-58, on Sunday. VCU is ranked third in the nation in turnover margin and fourth with 10.9 steals per game.
