NEW KENT, VA (WWBT) - The suspect involved in a Friday pursuit between two counties has turned himself into Virginia State Police.
State Police say Carl B. Viar was driving a 2006 Ford pickup going 100 miles per hour when he was pulled over by a trooper near mile marker 217 on I-64 in New Kent County. During the course of the traffic stop, the pickup truck sped off causing a minor injury to a New Kent County Deputy Sheriff assisting the trooper.
They say a pursuit was initiated with the fleeing pickup truck and ended in Henrico County with the suspect fleeing on foot. Viar, 25, was not injured in the pursuit.
Viar has been charged with the following charges: felony eluding police, felony assault on a law enforcement officer, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a felon, possession of a concealed weapon, possession of a controlled substance , possession of a controlled substance with intent, reckless driving, driving outside of restrictions, obstruction of justice, trespassing, possession of marijuana, making an unsafe lane change, fail to stop at a stop sign, fail to stop at a traffic light, fail to use a turn signal, fail to wear a seatbelt, and driving on a sidewalk (bike path).
He is being held without bond at the the Henrico County Jail East in New Kent County.
