Spiders hope to turn page in A-10 opener

Spiders seek turnaround in Atlantic 10 opener

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The turning of the calendar into a new year offers the chance for a fresh start, and in some ways, that's just what the Richmond Spiders need as they head to Davidson for their Atlantic 10 opener.

Richmond enters 2015 still in search of its first true road victory. The Spiders are 0-4 in true road games this season, and have lost three of those games by six points or less. They're also coming off back-to-back losses at home by a combined three points.

Chris Mooney and his club will be part of history Saturday night, as Davidson takes the floor for its first Atlantic 10 conference game. The Wildcats enter with a 9-2 mark and are coming off a loss at Virginia. Despite that defeat, Davidson led the third-ranked Cavaliers at the half and hung with them for most of the game. The Wildcats rank second in the nation in offensive points per game at 86.3.

The Spiders enter at 7-6 and have been stewing on a one point loss to Northeastern since Wednesday. Richmond led by 12 points, only to see that lead disappear.

Tip off is set for 5:00pm.
