HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - Henrico police released the name of a man struck and killed by a car over the weekend.
Police say Joseph Z. Carrington, 54, was lying in the road on Gay Avenue near Walsh Drive on Sunday at 11 p.m. when he was struck and killed by a car.
Neighbors say Carrington's body was found next to a front yard of a home on Gay Avenue. Police say he was dead by the time they got to him. The crash investigation shut down part of Gay Avenue until about 3 a.m. The medical examiner is trying to determine if Carrington had drugs or alcohol in his system.
Henrico County's Public Works department said speed studies have been done in the area of Gay Avenue, but the director says a speeding problem has not been found.
No charges have been filed against the driver and police say there are no indications the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
