Hopewell police say 2 shootings may be related

HOPEWELL, VA (WWBT) - Two recent shooting incidents in Hopewell may be related, according to the Hopewell Police Department.

The first happened around 9:30 p.m. Dec. 27 in the 600 block of Terminal Street in Hopewell's Davisville housing development. In that incident, one victim was shot in the head. The victim, who was 28. was treated and released from John Randolph Medical Center.

Then on Dec. 28 around 4 p.m., another male victim was shot in the arm in the Thomas Rolfe Court area on S. 8th Avenue. The victim, who is 24, is still being treated at Southside Regional Medical Center 

On December 28, 2014 at 4:06 pm, another male victim, age 24 of Hopewell, sustained a gunshot wound to the arm in the Thomas Rolfe Court area on S. 8th Avenue. He is still being treated for a non-life-threatening injury at Southside Regional Medical Center.

Police said in both incidents, the gunshots came from a vehicle. Both of these incidents may be in retaliation for a fight that broke out at a basketball tournament on the Ft. Lee military installation Dec 27 involving groups of people from Hopewell and Petersburg.
