NJ woman killed in Chesterfield crash

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - A New Jersey woman was killed Wednesday in a single-vehicle crash in Chesterfield. Three other people, including a 4-year-old child, also were treated for injuries.

The crash occurred at 5:00 a.m. on I-95 southbound .8 mile south of Route 10. According to Virginia State Police, a 2011 Toyota Camry was traveling south on I-95 when it ran off the road right, came back onto the road crossing the travel lanes and striking the left barrier wall, at which point the front seat passenger was ejected from the vehicle.  

The driver of the Toyota, Xaviar N. Sanders, 19, of Homestead, FL, and a 4-year old passenger were transported to VCU Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.  The front seat passenger, Alexandri McKinney, 48, of Hackensack, NJ, was transported to VCU Medical Center, where she died of injuries sustained in the crash.

State Police said Sanders and the 4-year-old passenger were properly restrained, but McKinney was not wearing a seatbelt.

Sanders was charged with reckless driving. The crash remains under investigation.
