Richmond man killed, 3 other adults and 5 children injured in Hanover crash

HANOVER, VA (WWBT) - A Richmond man died Tuesday night in Hanover in a head-on collision with another vehicle that was then rear-ended by a third vehicle.

Alexander Keel, 68, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Hanover Sheriff's deputies responded to the scene around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday on Courthouse Road between Hill Crest and Georgetown roads. Authorities said a preliminary investigation revealed that Keel's 2004 Nissan Sentra was heading south on Hanover Courthouse Road when it crossed into the northbound lane. The car struck a 1999 Chrysler Town & Country van with an adult and two children inside. A third vehicle, a 2006 Honda Odyssey van carrying two adults and three children, rear-ended the Chrysler van.

Everyone from the two vans was transported to VCU Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities are still investigating what caused the crash.
