The Highland Springs boy's and girl's basketball teams kept their respective perfect seasons alive on Tuesday night, as both claimed Times Dispatch Tournament titles at the Siegel Center.
The Springer boys battled fellow undefeated squad John Marshall for the tournament championship. Highland Springs would open up a lead, but the Justices would claw back and force overtime. The Springers would dominate the extra session, going on for the 74-66 win. A.J. Gaston was named tournament most valuable player.
On the girls side, Highland Springs dominated Glen Allen from start to finish, opening up a 45-25 halftime lead and cruising to the 87-43 victory. It capped off an exceptional tournament for the Springers, who averaged 97 points over their three games in the event, winning them by an average of 56 points. Most valuable player honors went to CeCe Crudup.
Both the Springer boys and girls improve to 7-0 on the season.
