CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - A Chesterfield man surrendered peacefully on Thursday afternoon after a standoff which lasted for hours.

David Crowley faces discharging a fire-arm in an occupied building charges.

A heavy police presence was called to the "Burcott at Watermill" neighborhood Thursday afternoon after a shot was fired inside the home of the possibly suicidal person. When family members called police concerned, the man refused to come out of the home in the 2100 block of Rose Family Drive.

Police set up a mobile command center nearby and armed police and the SWAT team worked for more than two hours trying to convince the him to surrender. Some roads in the area were closed and buses carrying children home were rerouted on their way home from school.

The situation was resolved peacefully, and no one was hurt.
