This week, the Senate Select Committee released a blistering report detailing the CIA's enhanced interrogation program.
The question many in America and around the world are asking is: were the techniques used by the CIA enhanced interrogation tactics or simply torture? After 3000 Americans were killed on 9/11, most Americans were not concerned with the details of enhanced interrogation. Prior to the release of this report, most did not really give it much thought. Americans were concerned with capturing the masterminds behind the 9/11 attacks and the capture of Osama Bin Laden.
In truth, I believe that the vast majority of the members of Congress (including Democrats and Republicans) knew exactly what was going on with CIA enhanced interrogation practices. They are being hypocritical in feigning outrage of what they are reading in the recently issued reports.
During those dark days following 9/11, the President and the Congress were willing to authorize almost anything.
The question before us now is: was it moral or immoral? This question can only be answered by you. But please don't be surprised if many of your fellow Americans are not in agreement with your answer.
