RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Residents of two South Richmond apartment buildings are being allowed back into their homes after a gas leak.

Richmond Fire crews evacuated the buildings at 700 Stockton and 700 Everett streets earlier Friday, according to a post on Twitter by the Richmond Fire Department.

Around 50 residents were forced out of the buildings, according to Richmond Public Utilities. Fire officials say they were able to declare the buildings safe for residents around 5 p.m.
