Restaurant Report: Drain flies at Henrico McDonald's

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Drain flies were found hovering over a sink inside a Henrico McDonald's. It's a common problem for restaurants, but a problem that has to go.

The inspection report says there were many drain flies by a sink at the McDonald's at 7118 West Broad St. in Henrico, which had five critical violations. The inspector noted the flies were in the storage area, too, and told the staff to contact a pest controller for advice. On the followup inspection a week later, the report says the flies were still there. But on another followup a week after that, all problems were gone.

Awful Arthur's Seafood Company at 6078 Mechanicsville Turnpike in Hanover had four critical violations. The report says chili and clam chowder were not adequately cooled to prevent bacteria growth. Both were thrown out and violations were corrected during  the inspection.

The NBC12 Hall of Fame Award this week goes to Antonio's Pizza at 63 South Airport Drive in Henrico. It has aced five health inspections and hasn't had a single critical violation in two years.
