INDIANAPOLIS, IN (WWBT) - An Indiana man lost a couple of fingers when he loaded the wrong powder into his rifle.
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources posted a picture on Facebook of a muzzleloader split into pieces after someone loaded it with smokeless powder instead of black powder. The department said the shooter lost a couple fingers.
Smokeless powder is more powerful than black powder, the Indianapolis Star explained. Muzzleloaders are legal for Indiana deer hunting and are similar to muskets, using black powder and a projectile instead of a modern bullet, according to the newspaper.
