This was a sad week at NBC12 when we learned of the untimely death of Dr. Bill Bosher last Sunday. Dr. Bosher was a colleague to all of us here at NBC12 and we feel as if we have lost a member of the family.
For those of you who knew Dr. Bosher, you know why we feel that way. Of course, he was a well-respected scholar in the world of education and politics, but what most of us here remember is his warm smile and infectious laugh. Dr. Bosher had the gift of making everyone in his company feel comfortable and we looked forward to his weekly visits when he recorded his editorials.
There were many weeks when we stood just feet away from each other listening as we recorded our respective comments. He would give me the wink and the nod and sometimes a bear hug, but I knew in his mind he was sometimes thinking….What's that guy talking about? I hope you have enjoyed the tributes we have produced in Dr. Bosher's honor this week. For our staff it was simply a labor of love for someone who is gone too soon.
I would be remiss if I did not extend our heartfelt gratitude to his wife Joanne Tucker Bosher and his family for lending Bill to us for all of these years. Dr. Bosher was a giant in Virginia Education history and he will be always be remembered for his decades of public service.
