AUGUSTA, VA (WWBT) - Drivers should wait to hit the roads, as rough weather has made of difficult road conditions, according to VDOT.
Snow and mixed precipitation have hit Interstate 81, Interstate 64 in Augusta and Interstate 95 in Northern Virginia. VDOT says drivers who are going to the western and central regions of the state should wait until conditions improve before traveling.
In western Virginia around Bristol, Salem, Staunton and Culpeper VDOT reports conditions ranging from isolated spots of snow, ice or slush in some areas, to snow or ice on major portions of the roadway in other areas. VDOT warns Thanksgiving travel congestion could make it harder to remove snow.
Crews began treating roads overnight and will continue to treat icy areas and plow snow, according to VDOT.
