VCU bounces back with win over Oregon

BROOKLYN, NY (WWBT) - After a disappointing lopsided loss to Villanova, VCU didn't have to wait long to get back on the court. The Rams finished up their Legends Classic stay in Brooklyn on a high note against Oregon.

VCU used a balanced scoring attack, putting five players in double figures in a 77-63 win over the Ducks. Shaka Smart's team surged out to a 12-0 lead in the game, and while Oregon would chip away and get close on several occasions, but the Rams would never trail en route to the win.

Melvin Johnson paced VCU with 19 points, while Jordan Burgess made huge contributions with 12 points and seven rebounds. Briante Weber chipped in eleven points and a career high ten assists. Treveon Graham scored 13 points and Mo Alie-Cox added ten points to round out the scorers in double-figures.

The Rams improve to 4-1 on the season and hit the road on Saturday to face Old Dominion in Norfolk. Tip off is set for 2:00pm.
