ETTRICK, VA (WWBT) - Latrell Scott has said on several occasions that his Virginia State football team doesn't spend much time celebrating wins, so it was business as usual on Sunday, after the Trojans had locked up their first playoff win in program history the day before.
Scott's VSU team topped LIU-Post, 28-17, and now sets its sights on Bloomsburg (PA) in the second round of the NCAA Division II playoffs. Virginia State is 10-2 and has already played the most games in a single season of any football team in school history. The Trojans enter on a ten game winning streak.
Bloomsburg is 10-1 and has been chewing on a loss in its conference championship game for the last two weeks. The Huskies are posting 34 points per game and have several lopsided victories to their credit.
The two teams share a common opponent from their respective 2014 schedules. Both played California (PA), with Bloomsburg topping the Vulcans, 24-21 in overtime, while the Trojans fell to Cal, 33-24.
Kickoff is set for 12:00pm on Saturday at Bloomsburg. The winner faces either Concord or West Chester on December 6.
