CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Troy Taylor has resigned his position as head football coach at Meadowbrook High School, after six years at the head of the program.
"After discussing it with my wife and family, I have decided to resign as the head football coach at Meadowbrook High School," Taylor said in a statement. "I would like to thank our two principals during my time as head coach, our activities director, the teachers, the parents, my assistant coaches, alumni, and the hard-working, committed football players at Meadowbrook High School. It has truly been a pleasure and a wonderful experience to be the head coach at Meadowbrook. Thank you for the opportunity to coach these fine young men."
Taylor spent a total of 14 seasons on the Monarchs' coaching staff, and was the head coach since 2009. In his six years as head coach, Meadowbrook compiled a 44-19 record, including three 9-1 regular seasons and led the team to the playoffs in each of his final three years. He also served as head coach for one year at Amelia County in 2008.
2014 saw the Monarchs finish the regular season 5-5, and fall to Highland Springs in the playoffs this past Friday, 34-29.
