Colin Egan is a 17-year-old junior at Hermitage High School.
On Saturday, Colin completed his third marathon in his racing wheelchair. It was his second Richmond Marathon and Colin won his division with a time of 2:58:29.
Colin was born with spina bifida and has used crutches all of his life. His early exposure to sports was only through physical education classes in school.
When he turned 13, Colin's teachers turned him on to Sportable, a local group focused on giving those with physical disabilities the chance to be active. Colin started by playing basketball at Sportable and his passion evolved into wheelchair racing.
Colin hopes to compete next in the Boston and New York City marathons.
