Honoring our Veterans

Good morning from Gray. Here's a look at some of the stories you will want to catch before you leave the house on 12 News Today.

Here at NBC12, we're proud to salute the more than 750-thousand veterans living in Virginia. They each have a story of service to share, and we're inviting you to help make that happen. Also, today, Governor Terry McAuliffe will be the keynote speaker at this years Veterans Day Ceremony at the Virginia War Memorial. The event begins at 10am.

A Polar Plunge is on its way to Central Virginia. Andrew is tracking the system and says we won't be breaking out the shovels, but we might get the season's first snowflakes.

New this morning, the verdict is in for the captain accused of killing more than 300 people when his ferry sank back in April. A panel of judges acquitted Lee Joon-Seok of murder. However, they sentenced him to 36 years in jail.

There is a recall affecting more than 2 million Happy Meal Toys. McDonald's is recalling the "Hello Kitty" "Lollipop Whistle" because it can pose a choking hazard to young children. If you have one of these toys, you're asked to take it to your nearest McDonald's immediately. There, you can get another toy, free yogurt, or free apple slices.
