Power restored after car crashes into pole on Gayton Road

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - Crews have restored power and all lanes are back open after an early morning car crash in Henrico that caused power outages in several neighborhoods.

Police say a car slammed into a power pole around 2:30 a.m. Friday morning and the driver fled the scene. He has been caught and is now in custody. Police charged him with hit and run, leavening the scene and reckless driving.

No one was hurt in the crash, but one lane of Gayton Road was shut down between Cloister Drive and Tunbridge Drive while crews worked to restore power in the area. There were about 1100 outages in Henrico after the crash. Power was restored to all homes and businesses before 1 p.m.
