RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond men's basketball lost both its seniors last year in the first week of February, Derrick Williams to personal reasons, and Cedrick Lindsay to injury, forcing many players into increased roles and many into increased minutes. The Spiders would go through some rough patches, losing its final four games, but with basically that entire roster back, Chris Mooney is hoping that experience will pay off in 2014-2015.
The Spiders are picked to finish fifth in the Atlantic 10 and feature more balance than they've seen in recent years. Kendall Anthony and sophomore ShawnDre' Jones will pace the backcourt, while Alonzo Nelson-Ododa, Terry Allen and Trey Davis provide frontcourt presence, both down low and from outside.
Richmond is looking to make its first NCAA Tournament trip since 2011, and Anthony says this is the main goal of he and his teammates. As a senior, he wants to make sure he experiences March Madness during his college career.
The Spiders tip off their 2014-2015 campaign on November 14th, when they host Radford at 7:30pm.
