CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Chesterfield County Police have charged a 17-year-old student in relation to an assault that occurred at Manchester High School on Monday.
The suspect, not identified by authorities, has been charged with aggravated malicious wounding in relation to the incident. He is currently being held at the Chesterfield County Juvenile Detention Home.
Police were called to the high school around 9:45 a.m. Monday for a reported assault with a knife. Police said preliminary investigation indicates that a 17-year-old male student stabbed another 17-year-old male student. The two students knew each other, police said.
The victim, also not identified, was transported to VCU Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Police at the scene took the suspect into custody and recovered the knife used in the attack.
