Chesterfield police arrest student for John Tyler Community College bomb threat

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Chesterfield County Police have arrested and charged a student in connection with a bomb threat to John Tyler Community College on Wednesday.

Police announced Tiffani-Lynn M. Synnott was arrested Thursday and charged with threats to bomb or damage building in relation to writing a note containing a bomb threat found in a common area of JTCC's Midlothian campus at 800 Charter Colony Parkway. On Wednesday, Synnott, 18, of the 4100 block of Bridgewood Road, pointed out the note to another student, who then picked up the note and turned it in to school officials.

Following the announcement of the arrest, JTCC president Dr. Edward "Ted" Raspiller said, "The safety of our students and employees is always a top priority at John Tyler Community College, and we are grateful to the Chesterfield County Police Department for bringing about a quick resolution to this case. We also want to thank the Virginia State Police and the many other agencies who worked closely with our College's emergency response team during the incident to ensure John Tyler Community College's facilities are secure."

All JTCC campuses were evacuated, and nothing suspicious was found at any location, police said.

Synnott is currently being held without bond at the Chesterfield County Jail.
