Spiders prepare for much-improved Albany

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - After a double-overtime thrilling win at Liberty, the Richmond football team gets back into its CAA schedule this Saturday with its first ever trip to Albany.

Last season, the Spiders topped the Great Danes, 27-10, at Robins Stadium, part of an 0-8 CAA campaign and 1-11 overall showing for Albany. This year's Danes are much improved. They're 4-1, 1-1 in conference play, and lost to JMU this past weekend on a late field goal. Albany has only committed two turnovers this season, and relies heavily on quarterback Will Fiacchi and running back Omar Osbourne. Osbourne is averaging 134 rushing yards per game.

Richmond's offense is coming together. Michael Strauss is among the national leaders in FCS completion percentage, star receiver Stephen Barnette returned last week, and running back Seth Fisher is coming off a performance that saw him finish with a career-high 132 rushing yards and four total touchdowns.  The Spiders are currently 3-2 overall, 0-1 in the CAA.

Richmond and Albany kick off at 3:30 this Saturday.
