RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Virginia Union University's Donte Gross had 168 yards receiving and two touchdowns as VUU downed Shaw University 31-9 on Saturday, October 4, in Hovey Field in Richmond, Va.

The win moved VUU to 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in CIAA play.  The 4-1 record is the best start for a Panther football team since 2008.

VUU's Kenny Graham connected on 16-28 passes for 292 yards passing, the most yards passing since Cheston Hickman passed for 320 yards against Bowie State University on September 24, 2011.

VUU now readies itself for the 2014 Homecoming Game as the Panthers meet the Lions of Lincoln (Pa.) University at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, in Hovey Field in Richmond, Va.
