CAROLINE, VA (WWBT) -

The Caroline County Sheriff's Office says they have arrested several people following a mob attack on a Ruther Glen man - including a juvenile student of Caroline High School. They are still searching for another suspect accused of shooting the victim in the attack.

Deputies responded to a report of a shooting at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday in the Bowling Green area. When they arrived, they found a 20-year-old man with gunshot wounds. He was taken to Mary Washington Hospital in serious condition.

Deputies later spotted a vehicle believed to be connected to the shooting, and when they tried to conduct a traffic stop, they say it led to a foot chase that resulted in several people taken into custody.

On Friday morning, deputies arrested a juvenile student of the Caroline High School, who is now charged with malicious wounding by a mob.

"The arrest of the juvenile in this incident did not occur at the high school," said Caroline County Sheriff Tony Lippa. "The Caroline Sheriff's Office and Caroline County school officials took proactive measures to ensure security at our schools this morning by providing additional deputies and investigators at the middle school and the high school, along with additional school personnel and heightened security procedures."

Caroline County Public Schools sent a notice to parents, saying:

"Caroline County Public Schools was notified last night that there was a shooting in the town of Bowling Green involving several of our students. Once we were notified, we developed a plan to ensure the continued safety of all of our students and staff. We are still working closely with the Caroline County Sheriff's Department to ensure that we have a safe and secure learning environment at all of our schools. We will continue to closely monitor the situation. Counselors and clergy are available to provide support for students who need it."

Deputies are now searching for 19-year-old Jaymonie Wallace, who is wanted on multiple charges, including attempted first degree murder. He is described as 6' tall, 140 pounds with long braided hair. He was last seen wearing a red shirt and dark blue jeans. He is considered armed and dangerous.

If you have any information on Wallace's whereabouts, call the Caroline County Sheriff's Office at (804) 633-5400, or call (804) 633-1133 to leave an anonymous tip.
