RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A teen accused of beating a Richmond 8-year-old to death is set to enter a plea in court, according to court records.
Mairese Washington is due in court Thursday at 2 p.m. to enter into the plea, though details are not immediately available and attorneys have not yet responded to inquiries about the terms.
A Richmond grand jury indicted Washington on a second-degree murder charge in connection with the beating death of Marty Cobb, whose family says was trying to protect his sister from an alleged sexual assault at the time.

Washington also faces malicious wounding and strangulation charges in the alleged attack on Marty's sister. All the charges are felonies. The teen was set to go on trial on November 17.
Washington carried the bloodied girl back to her Brandon Road home in May, but blamed someone else for the attack, according to the children's mother.
