Alaska reporter quits on-air, chooses weed over TV gig

ANCHORAGE, AK (WWBT) -

When faced with a decision to choose between reporting news and promoting marijuana, an Alaska reporter chose weed in dramatic fashion.

Charlo Green was reporting for KTVA-TV Sunday night, covering a story about the Alaska Cannabis Club, as seen on a YouTube video of the broadcast. As the story ended, she dropped the F-word, quit her job and told viewers she owned the business and was going to spend all her time fighting for "freedom and fairness."

The station's news director apologized to viewers online and confirmed Greene's departure for the station.

The 35-second video, uploaded by the Alaska Dispatch News' YouTube channel quickly went viral. It has been viewed more than 200,000 times as of 12:30 p.m. Monday.
