RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A Richmond Police lieutenant and his wife are facing charges after a domestic dispute at their Chesterfield home.

Lt. Erlan Marshall and his wife, Tawana, got in an argument at their home in the 6400 block of Kings Crest Court last month which ended with her pointing a .22 pistol at him, according to court documents.

Erlan says he went to talk to his wife in her room around 5 a.m. on August 20 when the argument began. He claims she struck him in the face, then bit him in the cheek when he tried to hug her. She then pulled out the pistol and called police, according to the complaint.

Tawana claims she only pulled the gun on him when he kicked in her door, pinned her down and refused to leave.

Tawana was charged with assault and battery and brandishing a firearm. Erlan is charged with assault and battery.

Erlan is a sector lieutenant in the third precinct. He covers sector 313, which includes parts of Randolph, Maymont and the Fan.

Richmond Police confirm Lt. Marshall is on leave, but would not disclose any further details.
