Virginia Union gives up second half lead in loss to Charleston

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Virginia Union University's Stephan Robinson returned a block kick 75 yards for a touchdown while teammate Donte Gross hauled in a 49-yard score, but Charleston defeated VUU 38-21 on a rainy day on Saturday, September 13, in Hovey Field in Richmond, Va.

Robinson raced 75 yards after VUU's Jamaal Wright blocked a Golden Eagle field goal attempt. 

Gross' catch came with 9:26 left in the first quarter to tie the game at 7-7.

Virginia Union scored another touchdown when Tyrone Brantley rumbled in from seven yards out with 2:57 left in the first half.

The loss evened VUU's record at 1-1 while Charleston is now 2-0.

Virginia Union travels to Fayetteville State University on Saturday, September 20, to meet the Broncos in a 6:00 p.m. game.
