Colonials eye success after snapping skid

COLONIAL HEIGHTS, VA (WWBT) - It's been a rough three years for the Colonial Heights football team. Entering 2014, the Colonials were on a 27-game losing streak, which included back-to-back winless seasons.

This season, however, got off on the right foot for Remus James and his squad. The Colonials topped Thomas Jefferson, 20-0, to kick off the campaign, snapping the skid and starting things off on a positive note. The team has been riding the winning feeling since the victory, and after an idle week last Friday, will look to keep it going.

Colonial Heights will welcome Park View this Friday and will aim to start the season 2-0 for the first time since 2008. James says the win gave the team confidence, but the best part about it was the way his team is looking to build off of the victory. His team has come in ready to work and focused, and he says that's been the best part.

For many seniors, the win marked the first victory of their varsity careers, and they obviously like that feeling. Quarterback Brian Gwaltney says the win marked one of the best days of his life.
