RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The Flying Squirrels are three wins away from capturing their first Eastern League title in franchise history. Standing in their way, the Binghamton Mets, a team they were 4-6 against during the regular season, but swept in a four game series to end the schedule.
Richmond claimed the Western Division crown with a three games to one series win over Akron. It's the second time in history the Squirrels have advanced to the ELCS. In 2011, they topped Harrisburg in the division series, before falling to New Hampshire in the title series.
Clayton Blackburn will take the ball for the first game. He's 5-6 with a 3.29 ERA and will oppose the B-Mets' Tyler Pill.
The first two games of the series will be in Richmond on Tuesday and Wednesday, with the final three games in Binghamton Friday-Sunday.
