Police: Suspicious situation at Henrico park 'unfounded'

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - Police have identified the person of interest involved in a suspicious situation at a Henrico park, and after investigating, they say the case has been unfounded.

Henrico Police launched the investigation Friday after a man was accused of trying to get three young girls to see a dog in his truck. He left when an adult approached.

The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. Thursday at RF&P Park on Mountain Road, which is adjacent to Crump Park, includes Glen Allen Stadium. At the time, the Glen Allen Ravens youth football team was practicing.

Coach Chris Woody was there when it happened, along with his 7-year-old son who is on the pee-wee team.

"We'd like to think Glen Allen is a very secure community," he said.

Police conducted several interviews, including with the person of interest. They are thankful to everyone who helped cooperate in the investigation.
