Chesterfield Police believe Labor Day shooting was an isolated incident

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) -

There are more questions than answers after a shooting into an occupied car early Labor Day in Chesterfield.

Police say they saw a car driving in reverse on Hull Street Road and went in to investigate.

A driver told police he pulled over on Hull Street Road near the intersection of Chippenham Parkway around 2:30 a.m.

That's when the driver says the random shooting happened.

"The type of world we live in now," said resident Jose Jose.

Local resident Frank Harmon agrees.

"In today's society, I'm sad to say, these things happen," he said.

"I wish they would stop the violence. Too many young people are getting hurt," added Robert Shepperson.

One day after the shooting, nearby residents like Shepperson are reacting.

"Too many people are carrying guns from nowhere to hurt people," he said.

Chesterfield County police said luckily in this case, no one was hurt.

There was damage to the windshield and window.

Shepperson says this is an indicator of a bigger problem.

"They're not respective other people, their lives, or their kids and whatever.. and guns are creating a problem," he said.

The victim says the shooter was driving a silver Altima.
