Friends remember man shot and killed near Fairfield Court

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Linda Young was shocked to find out that one of her beloved neighbors was shot and killed just feet away from her own front yard.

Little details have been released from police, but they say the victim was around 30-years-old, and was rushed to VCU Medical Center Saturday evening.

He later died from his injuries.

"I really liked him, he was very respectable, you know, he used to call me mom," Linda Young said.

Alicia Rasin, the founder of Citizens Against Crime, knew the victim. She took the news of his death hard, especially since the victim had recently vowed to live a better life.

She recalled one of their last conversations.

"He said Ms. Rasin, you know what, I'm going to turn my life around, I am tired and he did," Rasin said.

Rasin says the victim lived nearby in Fairfield Court with his girlfriend.

Many in the typically quiet section of the apartment complex remain on edge.

We are told family and friends are pulling together in the midst of this tragedy remembering a man who many say had a bright future.

"He is going be very well missed," Linda Young said.

Police continue to investigate this crime and are still looking for the persons responsible for the shooting.

If you have any information you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
