Thomas Dale senior defensive tackle Darvin Taylor II made his verbal commitment to Florida State on Thursday afternoon. Taylor made the announcement hours before the Knights' 2014 season opener at Cosby.
Taylor announced to the room full of teammates, coaches, friends and family. After he made his initial declaration, Taylor called Florida State, and informed head coach Jimbo Fisher of his commitment. The Knight senior, who was announcing his decision on his 17th birthday, got emotional and had to pause and catch his breath before giving Fisher the news.
Taylor is considered one of the top 150 linemen in the country. He had 26 college offers and narrowed his choices down to Virginia Tech, NC State and Florida State. He'll join Atlee product Alec Eberle in Tallahassee.
