RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond police are searching for three men in connection with an attack of a teen on the city's Southside.
Two men jumped out of some bushes and hit a teenage girl in the head with a handgun as she was walking in the 600 block of Effingham Drive around 3:06 p.m., according to Richmond Police. The location is in a neighborhood behind the ROC church off Midlothian Turnpike.
They then tried to take the girl, who police said is a juvenile in her late teens, inside a nearby house. Police initially believed they were trying to abduct the teen, but now believe they were trying to break into the home. Neighbors rushed to the girls aid and the two men ran off, jumped over a fence and got into a car where a third suspect was waiting.
The teen only had minor injuries. Police are now trying to track down the suspects. Detectives have not said if the girl knew her attackers.
Police are not releasing any descriptions of the suspects or their vehicle, as they believe they are close to making arrests.
