RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

A Richmond man accused of beating a 2-year-old to death now faces felony murder charges.

A grand jury indicted Kevin Webb on the charges Wednesday, according to court records.

Richmond police say Webb, 43, killed his girlfriend's two-year-old son, O'ustin Spratley in July. Police say the child and his mother lived with Webb in the Morningside Apartments off Oakhurst Lane in South Richmond. Relatives say O'ustin's mother wasn't home during the alleged incident.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner says O'ustin died from blunt force trauma to the abdomen and the manner of death is homicide. Prosecutors said the child had visible bruises and a broken rib. Authorities rushed O'ustin to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Court records show Webb's long criminal record with past charges of domestic assault and false reporting to a police officer.
