Richmond hit-and run: Police searching for suspect

Good morning from Gray. Here's a look at some of the stories you will want to catch before you leave the house on 12 News Today.

Richmond police need your help in the search for a hit and run driver.  A man was hit around 2:30 this morning in downtown Richmond near 4th and Broad. No word yet on a description of the vehicle, but we do know that the driver took off from the scene, hit a nearby pole, and then jumped out and ran away. We are told the victim should be okay.

Today, city leaders will get a first hand look at some Richmond schools and the condition they are in. The tour comes as students head back to class in about two weeks. The planned visits have to do with concerns about conditions of some buildings.

We are also closely watching a story getting national attention. Right now, Virginia is still on track to allow same-sex marriages. If nothing changes, we could see the first marriages this week.
