BLACKSBURG, VA (WWBT) - Sam Rogers and his work ethic have gotten praise at every level of football, and Virginia Tech is no different.
The Hanover product is entering his sophomore year with the Hokies and is coming off a first year campaign that caught the eye of the Virginia Tech coaching staff. Rogers began as a walk-on, but due to his hard work on the practice field and in the weight room, earned the starting fullback job along with a scholarship.
Now Rogers says he's looking forward to having a little bit more fun. He knows the offense well, and while his freshman season was about finding his role and getting comfortable, Rogers now looks to build on his experience. Frank Beamer says he wants to see the Hokies running game produce more, and Rogers will be a big part of that, be it blocking or ball carrying.
Rogers and the Hokies kick off the 2014 season on August 30, hosting William & Mary.
