Homicide investigation after shooting in Eastern Henrico

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) -

Police are investigating a homicide in Eastern Henrico after a man died overnight from a shooting.

It happened on Newbridge Road, just off Nine Mile Road. Henrico Police found the man outside of the Newbridge Apartments Complex.

Police are still on the scene Tuesday morning. When they arrived, the man was responsive. He was taken to VCU medical center where he later died. He suffered from multiple gun shot wounds.

This is just blocks away from Hughland Springs Elementary School. About a dozen police squad cars were here and at one point there were firefighters, EMTs and a bloodhound.

Reports of four to five gunshots fired in the Newbridge apartment complex came in at about 11:30 p.m. Monday. The victim was found outside the complex.

Witness tell police they saw at least one suspect take off running. Police say there could be more suspects, but they don't have a clear description of any suspects involved.
