Meadowbrook looks to capitalize on 2013 growing pains

Meadowbrook hopes 2013 growing pains pay off

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - 2013 saw a younger Meadowbrook football team finish the regular season 6-4 and earn a playoff berth. The Monarchs would fall to Atlee in the first round of the postseason, but those young players would get some valuable experience.

Eight sophomore held starting roles for Meadowbrook last season. Fast forward one year, and they're all juniors who all have a campaign of great experience under their belts. The Monarchs boast a difficult opening schedule that features Hermitage, Manchester and Highland Springs, and going through that gauntlet last year is something head coach Troy Taylor hopes will help this time around.

Something Taylor hopes will be a bit improved from last season is the running game. Junior running back Justin Miller returns after starting last season, and hopes to bolster that effort.

Meadowbrook will open its 2014 season on August 29 at Hermitage.
