Police called to double shooting in Richmond's south side

Two people were sent to area hospitals after police say they were shot at Midlothian Village Apartments on Richmond's south side Thursday night.

Police were called around 9:50 p.m. for multiple gunshots in the 4500 block of Midlothian Turnpike. When they arrived, they found two victims in the courtyard.

One victim is 23 years old, and the second victim is 29 years old. One was taken to VCU Medical Center and the other was transported to Chippenham Hospital. Both victims have non life-threatening injuries.

Police say they are looking for a group of four to five men. They say the group is in an SUV with a ski rack. No arrests have been made in this case.

Police were called to the same area just two hours earlier for reports of a man firing a shotgun into the air. That man was arrested. No word on if both incidents are related.

If you know anything that can help police, call Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000.
